OPTIMA

This project led by Gwladys Bertin seeks to understand the mechanisms involved in severe malaria. These mechanisms rely largely on the interactions between host-pathogen interactions involving parasite virulence factors and immunological dysfunctions, all of which can be exacerbated by particular behaviors (inadequate self-treatment) and a favorable biological environment. This project, which deploys complex cell biology methods and OMICS approaches, will bring together the IRCB, CERPAGE and CHUMEL in Benin. In France, several partners are involved: i) the Inserm U1134 unit, ii) the Proteom'IC platform of the Cochin Institute (Paris Cité University) and iii) the Armed Forces Biomedical Research Institute.
