On Tuesday, June 6, 2023, the Faculty of Pharmacy of Paris Cité University broadcast the documentary The Pandemic Factory by Marie-Monique Robin. The screening, organized by the Institut de Recherche pour le Développement (IRD), which is also a co-producer, was accompanied by a debate with the director and Rodolphe Gozlan.
In collaboration with the Joint Research Unit "Mother and child in a tropical environment: pathogens, health system and epidemiological transition" (UMR MERIT), and the scientific animation group AnimPharma of the Faculty of Pharmacy Université Paris Cité, the film follows Marie-Monique Robin, accompanied by Juliette Binoche, through eight countries (United States, France, Mexico, Gabon, Thailand, Guyana, Madagascar and Kenya). In the midst of a rich but threatened biodiversity, the director discusses with several scientists who bring out the following observation: environmental upheavals are the major causes of the appearance of infectious diseases.
